Cops arrest 2
suspected burglars
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Two brothers suspected to be burglars were arrested by the police for allegedly breaking into a caregiver training center in Bacolod City late Friday, the police said yesterday.

The brothers Elmer, 36, and Joymar Cauntao, 28, were nabbed by Police Station 1 and City Mobile Group officers led by PO1 Dacles after they allegedly broke into the boarders' area of Lifeline Caregiver Center , at Rosario-Locsin streets, in Bacolod , at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, police reports said.

Building owner Sherla Gauzon told Police Station 1 investigator, SPO1 Jessie Baylon, that the suspects had already entered one of their students' rooms when she saw them.

The Cauntaos tried to escape but were intercepted by the officers later after Gauzon called for police assistance, Aksyon Radyo reported.

The items the two attempted to steal, a digital camera, two cellphones, two coin banks, a cellphone charger, and karaoke tapes, were later recovered at the training center's compound where they use apparently left when the suspects fled, police record show.

Although an eight-inch fan knife was confiscated from Elmer, he and Joymar, denied breaking into Gauzon's property in a radio interview, saying they were out to have a drink when the officer arrested them.

Gauzon, however, positively identified Elmer as one of the men she saw in the building, pointing out that he was wearing a black shirt that he had already taken off when they were apprehended.

Police Station 1 commander, Chief Inspector Noel Manaay, said, they will encourage the students of the training center to file charges against the two.*PP
