February is really a month of love in Dumaguete especially for lovers of entertainment. The month started out with a marvelous production of “Fiddler on the Roof!” brought by Prism Amateur Community Theater under the direction of our very own theater diva Evelyn Aldecoa. More details and an honest critic of the “obra maestra” later.
Concerts, cabaret acts and fashion shows will dominate the love month. First on the list is “Nina in Concert” at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center brought to the community by the Foundation University Alumni Association. February 12 promises to be a night of love songs that only Nina can render. The next day, February 13 is the much anticipated and long overdue show of Asia 's queen of bossa nova, Sitti Navarro in an apropos shebang “Café Bossa Nova”, at the Convention Center. This one of a kind night of entertainment will be brought by the team of Ed and Stella Du. Tickets for the dinner show are selling like “hotcakes.” Thank heavens I got mine already.
A world-renowned clothing brand just made its presence in the city known and opened an outlet recently. In conjunction with the opening GEA Events Productions under the reign of impresario Toto Marquez, Mossimo will showcase a night of sultry and sexy fashion, and glamour in a four-in-one fashion show entitled “D'Ramp: A Post Valentine Show for a Cause” on February 16 at the El Camino Blanco.
Image models from Manila, hunks and belles from Cebu, and our local “best-of-the-best” guys and dolls (gawk at the photos dahlings) will strut the ramp in world celebrated and notorious undergarments, chic Water Lilly, Mixed Berry, Il Primo and the Hotmen collection of Harley Ruedas clothing. The proceeds of this event will be donated to the TB-DOTS Center . This whole shindig is chaired by Jasun Penales. This affair is heartily endorsed by “moi” and tickets can be purchased at Biz Hub Internet Café, Il Primo, Steds Convenience Store and of course El Camino Blanco.
Closing the month of love will be the Pinky Amador and Bart Guingona theatrical presentation of “Love Letters” at the Luce Auditorium. Let me tell you, Dumaguete's “carnet du bal” will be full this month. One last note cher lecteurs, matinee idol Diether Ocampo was in town a few days ago for rest and recreation and loved the gentility of our town!........Love one and all….Nous!*
