NORECO I sets elections

The Negros Oriental 1 Electric Cooperative will hold another district elections for its Board of Directors this year, manager Edmund Nochefranca of the Institutional Services Division said.

Polls in the four districts under NORECO I will run from February to March, starting in Guihulngan on February 23; Jimlalud, March 1; Ayungon, March 8; and Bindoy on March 15.

The deadline of filing of certificates of candidacy is Wednesday for Guihulngan district; Feb. 20 for Jimalalud district; Feb. 27 for Ayungon; and March 5 for Bindoy.

Candidates who ran in the local or national elections are disqualified from running for co-op director within one year from the date of the local or national elections.

Meanwhile, all 285 barangays under the NORECO I are now 100 percent energized, Nochefranca said at a forum Tuesday, 5 in Jimalalud.

As of Dec. 31, 2007, NORECO I has lighted up all the barangays in its coverage area from Mabinay to Canlaon City , Nochefranca also said.*RG
