IMUS- Mario Sabater, 48, heads one of the last remaining farming families in this town just south of Manila , where a white-hot property market is fast gobbling up the rice paddies.
With his only son in high school and showing no interest in getting his feet muddy, Sabater, a fourth generation rice farmer, is considering selling his plot to developers.
"I will sell soon," he told AFP as he paused from his back-breaking work to gaze out over his three-hectare (7.4-acre) lot. 


AFINO seminar set
The Association of Financial Institutions of Negros Occidental Inc. will conduct a seminar with guest speakers from the Securities and Exchange Commission, at the Business Inn in Bacolod City 10:30 a.m. Friday, a press release from AFINO president, Ruth Chua, said.
The topics to be discussed are The New Lending Act of 2007, and Amendment of the Reportorial Requirements for Financing and Lending Companies.
The speakers are Sampaguita Ladrido and Arman Villaruz of SEC-Iloilo Extension Office. 


Bank donates to school
The City Savings Bank recently donated an air conditioner to the Victorias National High School that was turned over by CSB Branch Head Julius Tiples and staff, a press release from the bank said.
The donation was received by VNHS officer-in-charge, Patricia Ledesma, department head Emelie Gemarino, OIC department head Manuel Villarin Jr., and VNHS retired Principal Araceli Flores.
An Aboitiz company, CSB has a paid-up capital of over P150 million and total resources of P4 billion, the press release said.
