networks in Negros

Multi-sectoral representatives in Negros Occidental were rallied yesterday to network efforts to assist children from all forms of abuse, by Eric Mallonga, legal counsel of Bantay Bata 163.

Bantay Bata 163 is a social welfare program of ABS-CBN that aims to protect children from any form of abuse, with an office in Bacolod City .

Mallonga said the Bantay Bata program aims to provide holistic and proactive programs, services and facilities and to uphold the welfare of the children by tapping the cooperation of all sectors from local governments to the private sector.

Among its aims is to heighten public awareness, responsibility, and community involvement in child protection and welfare through mass media and advocacy programs.

Mallonga spoke at two seminars held at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City attended by about 150 representatives from both the government and private sectors from all over Negros Occidental on the need for networking efforts to help children, Bing Ascalon, Bantay Bata Bacolod consultant, said.*
