PPA rep sought for
takeover task force
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Councilor Dindo Ramos yesterday said he will ask the Philippine Ports Authority to send a representative to be part of the “takeover task force” created by the Mayor for the pre-takeover preparations of the Bacolod Port.

The task force convened Thursday to decide on who will represent the PPA and private sector as members of the group.

Ramos said he was tasked by City Legal Officer Allan Zamora, who chairs the task force, to coordinate with the PPA for their representative and he will write PPA about it next week.

The group has not yet selected a representative from the private sector.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued an executive order creating a task force for the pre-takeover preparations and actual takeover of port and port operations of the Bacolod Port last month pursuant to City Ordinance 454, or the “takeover ordinance.”

Leonardia designated Zamora chairman of the task force and Councilors Dindo Ramos and Roberto Rojas, Secretary to the Mayor Goldwyn Nifras, acting City Treasurer Annabelle Badajos and representatives from the PPA and the private sector, as members.

The task force will study all the phases of the pre-takeover preparations and aspects of the actual takeover of the port and port operation of the Bacolod Port , and will make recommend how to achieve the effective take over and management of the port and port operation, the order said.*CGS
