in loss of P.7M: PNP
The police said yesterday that Akyat Bahay gang members may have been responsible for the burglary where an estimated P750,000 in valuables and cash were taken in Bacolod City Thursday.
Police Station 5 commander, Inspector Renato Ofamen, said professional members of the notorious burglary gang are suspected of being the ones who broke into the house of Maria Elena Jito at No. 2 Montelibano Street , Brgy. Granada , in Bacolod , at about 5:15 a.m. Thursday.
Ofamen said the robbery style was that of Akyat Bahay members and they have several suspects, but cannot divulge their names yet.
Ofamen also said two or three people may have entered Jito's house through a comfort room window and took P10,000 in cash, a $500 bill, assorted jewels, cellphones, watches, and a laptop, while she and her family members were asleep.
He said they have lifted fingerprints from the residence and are processing them, along with other evidence to strengthen their case.
Meanwhile, Police Station 2 commander, Inspector Rie Gumban, said they now have a suspect in the car burglary that involved a Korean at 12th St. in Bacolod , last month, after recovering the items taken from the foreigner.
He said they will get the affidavit of a certain “Neneng Amantok” who pointed to Jojo Arnaiz, alias “Toto Daku”, as the one who pawned to her the laptop and electronic dictionary of Lee Moon Geul of Silay City, Negros Occidental, so they could file charges against him.
Geul, 39, discovered that an unidentified person destroyed one of the windows of his van and took his computer, dictionary, and some documents, while he visited a massage parlor at 12th Street on January 24.*PP
