The PNP Provincial Command yesterday inaugurated the firing range located beside the PNP Provincial Headquarters building at Camp Fernandez Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

The construction of the project started last year, along with the multi-purpose building. Funds used came from Gov. Emilio Macias II, Rep. George Arnaiz (2 nd district, Neg.Occ.) and assistance from the Philippine National Oil Company.

Police provincial director, S/Supt. Melvin Buenafe, said the firing range was the first completed project under his tenure. He encouraged all policemen to use the facility to be more proficient in gun handling and marksmanship.

Buenafe said firearms proficiency is very important for policemen and it should be their way of life. Private individuals may also participate as sports events, he said.*MA
