Christening

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Today, we welcome the Chinese New Year – the year of the rat. The Filipino-Chinese Community of Bacolod City will gather today for the BacoLaodiat Festival. With our Chinese brothers and sisters, it is the vision, too, of Bacolod Mayor Bing Leonardia, to make the celebration a premiere event.

Bacolod 's 6th Street and the rest of the Shopping Center and even the malls are fully decorated with twinkling lights, Red Chinese lanterns, and decors for welcoming the new year. The Chinese community has prepared several presentations to mark the occasion.

Welcome, too, to the Christian world Julio Roseller Ciocon Mapa, son of JB and Marides Ciocon Mapa who was baptized January 27. A Thanksgiving Mass was offered at the Carmelite Monastery officiated by Fr. Noli Que, parish priest of the Our Lady of Peace, followed by the baptismal rites solemnized by Fr. Bernard Ybiernas.

Titas, titos and cousins of both families are godparents. They are Gerry Mapa, Jonathan Lio, Owen Au, Jun Jun Arnaldo, Mark Araneta, Cesar Peralta III, and RC Ciocon, Bea Cruz, Mardi Suplido, Noni Garbanzos, Malu Granada, Maridel and Patricia Ann Ciocon, Manette Mapa, Marimon and Maris Guanzon.

Guests proceeded at the Don Ricardo Hall of L'Fisher where lunch was served buffet style. In two long tables, we were treated to the best of the different kinds of sweets and dessert plus a flowing chocolate fountain.

To dear Niño welcome to the Christian world!

Remember: Never regret a day in your life; good days give you happiness, bad days give you experience, both are God's blessings.*
