Will they turn out as forgotten heroes?

Negrense athletes who bagged medals during the 2007 Southeast Asian Games have yet to receive their incentives almost two months after winning medals in the Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima , Thailand .

“They might think that we are greedy. We're getting used to broken promises,” SEA Games women's boxing silver medalist, Mitchel Martinez, said last night.

The NOPSSCEA bid in volleyball and basketball got off to a winning start in the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association Meet in Kalibo, Aklan yesterday.

Roger Banzuela, chairman of the NOPSSCEA Sports Task Force, last night said that the men and women's volleyball teams from the University of St. La Salle posted straight-set victories over Aklan and Capiz, respectively.

The win is crucial as both NOPSSCEA teams kept in step with rival Iloilo in the team standings. Iloilo is defending champion in the men's division, after pulling off a come-from-behind victory over Negros last year.
