Pax Christi wants its funds
BY NIDA BUENAFE

The Pax Christi Philippines' office in Bacolod City complained yesterday that its depositing bank in the city refused to explain the reasons behind the inaccessibility of funds transferred to its account intended for development aid programs in Negros Occidental.

Johnna Javier, administrative officer of Pax Christi said Citibank Bank Bacolod branch told them they can not do anything about the technical glitch after the problem was endorsed to its main office in Manila .

Javier said the deposit was made in December in Germany to Citibank New York and after informing Pax Christi's office in Bacolod about the problem in the fund transfer, Citibank Bacolod's public relation's department refused to entertain any follow up inquiry from them.

When reached by the DAILY STAR for its side in the complaint, Citibank Bacolod manager Gino Garcia said he is not in the position to issue any statement on the matter.

Javier said their office knew about the glitch and necessary corrections were immediately made but the funds remained inaccessible as of yesterday.

She said they only want an explanation and an assurance that something is being done, she said.*NAB
