| The Philippine National Police has requested the Philippine Ports Authority in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, to require all stevedores employed by the Integrated Stevedoring and Arrastre Corporation, especially those who are not town residents, to secure clearances from the court, the barangay, the mayor and the police for proper identification.
PPA acting port manager Enrique Fuentebaja said the request made by Inspector Joshua Villasis, Pulupandan police chief, was in connection with police intelligence report that several members of the Special Partisan Unit of the New People's Army are planning to penetrate into the port of Pulupandan , by pretending to be dockworkers of ISACOR.
Fuentebaja, in his letter to ISACOR general manager Luis Mondia Sr., said “Your cooperation is hereby requested in requiring dock workers for their own safety and security”.
Twenty Pulupandan barangay captains wrote to PPA general manager Oscar Sevilla to cancel the contract of ISACOR owned and operated by the Mondia family.
They also wrote to Pulupandan Mayor Magdaleno Peña asking him not to renew the business permit of ISACOR in Pulupandan.
Peña said that “without the mayor's clearance, they cannot work in the town”. He was referring to the ISACOR dock workers.
Former Pulupandan Mayor Luis Mondia Jr. yesterday refused to comment on the move to require ISACOR dock workers to secure clearances.*GPB
