Retailers cry foul
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Irate consumers slammed the policy prohibiting marketgoers from buying in retail at the Tabo sa Provincial Agriculture Office in Dumaguete City .

Under the “Bagsakan” concept, only wholesale buying is allowed, and retailers complained to the police at a dry-run held Saturday.

In response, provincial agriculturist Gregorio Paltingca ordered a resumption of retail operations.

He said that the Bagsakan center replaced the “Tabo sa PAO,” at a meeting among vendors at the public market in Dumaguete and farmer-producers at the “Tabo sa PAO,” without any representation from the public.

Paltingca said members of the technical working group are expected to come out with a win-win solution, including allowing wholesale from early dawn to 6 a.m., and the rest of the day will be for retailers.* JG
