2 posing as NBI men
arrested in Sibulan
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Two suspected gun dealers, claiming to be agents of the National Bureau of Investigation, were arrested Sunday in Tubtubon, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

NBI special investigator Nick Tagle identified the suspects as Ronie Anasario, 27, single, and Federico Aseñas, both of Bais City , in the province.

Concerned citizens tipped them in the presence the suspects, and they were nabbed by responding operatives as they were about to sell the firearms reportedly to a barangay kagawad in Tubtubon.

Confiscated by the NBI were a Colt .45 pistol loaded with four live ammunition and a .357 caliber revolver loaded with two live ammunition.

Anasario and Aseñas failed to present the documents to carry the guns, and they will be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1866 as amended by RA 8294, for illegal possession of firearms, Tagles said.

He added that they may also file other charges such as impersonating a person in authority against the suspects.

Anasario claimed he is a member of the Military Intelligence Group and presented a Memorandum Receipt for a .45 caliber pistol with serial number 031859.

When checked at the Regional Firearms and Explosives Unit in Region 7, however, the NBI found out that Aseñas is not in the list of licensed firearm holders, while Anasario is not the licensed holder of the confiscated firearm with serial number 8782457.

Anasario claimed the gun is owned by a certain Patrick but refused to give details.

Aseñas, who was nabbed with a .357 revolver, pointed to Anasario as the owner of the gun who asked him sell it for P2,500.*JG
