Five persons were nabbed by the police for possessing drug paraphernalia while on board a motor vehicle at 8 a.m. Thursday, in Barangay Poblacion 1, Bais City , Negros Oriental.

The suspects were identified as Nico Cabrera, 29, single, Tito Cabrera, 32, married, Rico Senador, 24, married, Jestoni Academia, 19, single, and Randy Acab, 22, single, all of Brgy. Tambulan, Tayasan town.

Police said they were arrested by a team of Bais PNP led by PO3 Restituto Abanto, at a checkpoint in the national highway of Brgy. Poblacion 1, Bais.

They were on board an Isuzu truck with Plate Number YFO-817 heading south when they were flagged down and checked for violating the traffic rules, investigation added.

The drug paraphernalia confiscated were in plain view of the policemen.

The suspects were brought to the Bais City Police Station and were charged with violating Section 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Bais City Prosecutor's Office.*RG
