IN BRGY. LOOC
Folk near creek ordered to leave
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices said he will locate a site for residents living on top of a creek in Brgy. Looc, who have been given 30 days to vacate the area.

Perdices said the residents had been building their houses on top of the creek, which alarms the local government as they may affect the sanitation of water at the city pier.

City officials who inspected the area discovered that the residents there have no septic tanks, and their wastes are released directly to the creek, and into the sea.

The poor sewerage system of residents living near the coastal areas will also affect the water sanitation of the city, Perdices said.

He said the affected families went to his office last week and asked to be given a relocation site by the city.

The Dumaguete City government was given an award by the United States Agency for International Development for being one of the local government units that has adopted the Waste Water Treatment Facility technology.*MA
