| Tanzanian local government officials will be in Negros Oriental February 12 to 16 for a study tour on the implementation of the Integrated taxation in the province.
The government of Tanzania has fully implemented the I-tax in the national level, and they are interested in adopting it in their localities, provincial information officer Adrian Sedillo said yesterday.
I-tax is a system introduced by the German Technology Corporation, aimed at enhancing local revenue collection.
Negros Oriental has nine municipalities and two cities tapped as pilot areas its implementation locally, Sedillo added.
Recently, the Commission on Audit approved the request of the Provincial Treasurer's Office headed by Danilo Mendez to issue computer-generated receipts using the I-tax program.
The municipality of Valencia was first to issue computer-generated receipts.
Earlier, Mendez said the I-tax has shown positive effect in the collection of local revenue in the province.*MA
