Two vessels
caught in illegal fishing

Two 3-tonnage fishing boats were intercepted Thursday night by operatives of the 603 rd police Maritime Command, allegedly for illegal fishing, in the territorial waters of Brgy. Asia, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Irvin Glen Provido, 603 rd Maritime Group chief, said the two fishing boats – F/B Sunset and F/B Sr. San Vicente - were discovered to have been engaged in illegal fishing within the prohibited fishing grounds in Brgy. Asia , Hinobaan.

F/B Sunset is owned by a certain Bebot Santes, with nine crew members, while F/B Sr. San Vicente is owned by Fabian Herado, with 15 crew members.

Provido said the arrested crew members will be charged for violation of Sections 86, 89 and 90 of RA 8550, or illegal fishing.*GPB
