Iranian national failed
to post bail, police say
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Iranian student accused of rape who was arrested Thursday by the Baguio City police at Silliman University , Dumaguete City , failed to post bail yesterday, the police said.

The suspect, Molaei Gholamreza, 37, single was brought back to Baguio City where he is facing the charges. Earlier, questions were raised why he was allowed to post bail when he had committed a non-bailable offense.

Gholamreza denied accusations that he molested two young girls aged five and six in Baquio. He expressed surprise at his arrest because the policemen led by Senior Inspector Joseph Kiw Marcos could not tell him when and where the alleged rape happened.

His lawyer, Arturo Dupio, said his client has been barely two years in the Philippines and nine months at Silliman. He added that Gholamreza even intends to marry a local lass who lives at Meciano road, Dumaguete City but is still out of the country.

Gholamreza's warrant of arrest was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Iluminada Cabato of Regional Trial Court Branch 59 in Baguio and served by Marcos, SPO3 Gabriel Isican and PO3 Jinky Alalong.

It was also learned that Gholamreza had a previous rape case but it was dismissed.*JG
