Baby boy abandoned

A new-born baby boy believed abandoned by his mother, was found yesterday in a sugarcane plantation in Sitio Talotog, in Brgy. Taba-ao, Sagay City .

Supt. William Senoron, Sagay police chief, said the baby boy was found in a canefield by Rosemarie Escovilla who heard him crying when she happened to pass the area at about 6 a.m. yesterday.

Senoron said his umbilical cord still attached to the baby, who was lying on newly-cut cane stalks near a piece of cloth containing a placenta.

He also said Escovilla cut the umbilical cord of the baby before bringing him to the Alfredo Maranon District Hospital in Brgy. Bato, Sagay City , for treatment.

The Sagay police have not yet identified the mother who abandoned the child.*GPB
