| Police pursuing second
suspect in bizman's slay Despite the arrest of the primary suspect in the stabbing and hacking of a Filipino-Chinese businessman last year the police said yesterday that the search for the other suspect will continue.
Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, said they are coordinating with the Rizal Provincial Police Office for the arrest of “Marby”, the live-in partner of Peril Pineda, who was nabbed by RPPO officers in a mountainous area in Montalban, Rizal province Sunday.
Pineda and “Marby” have been tagged in the killing of Fransisco Lim at the businessman's house at the corner of Narra Street and C.L. Montelibano Avenue , in Bacolod , on June 15, 2007 .
Quebrar said it is highly possible that “Marby” is still in Rizal province although she had left the house where she and Pineda had been staying before his arrest.
He added that although “Marby” did not help Pineda attack Lim, she could still be liable for the crime.
Lim's family had offered a P200,000 reward for any information that would lead to Pineda's and “Marby's” arrest.
Pineda, 23, had admitted killing Lim, saying he grabbed a knife when his 64-year-old employer hit him with a steel stool when he confronted him for allegedly molesting “Marby.”
He denied stealing cash and valuables from the family but admitted he was wearing the pants of Lim's son, Patrick Andrew, when he was presented by the police at the BCPO Tuesday.
An earlier police investigation show that around P20,000 of the Lims was missing after the two helpers escaped.
Pineda, who has been remitted to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod, is facing a theft charge in Bago City, Negros Occidental aside from robbery with homicide case without bail for Lim's death, police records show.*PP

No lead on Ilog rape yet The Ilog Police is still clueless on the identities of the culprits in behind the rape-slay of an 8-year-old girl in Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog, on Jan. 22.
PO3 Liza Fe Vingno, chief of the Ilog police Women's and Children Protection Center, said they released Carlos Yupan, and his son, Bernabe, who had been invited for questioning, for lack of evidence connecting them to the rape-slay of Lilibeth Nucos.
Nelly Nucos, mother of the victim, had linked Bernabe to the crime. It was Carlos who discovered the decomposing body of Nucos in an abandoned nipa hut in Km. 112, Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog.
Police investigations showed the victim had been sexually molested and died of strangulation.
Vingno said Bernabe and his father vehemently denied the accusations of the victim's mother.
Bernabe claimed Nelly may have linked them to the crime because she blamed them for throwing stones at her residence.
Ilog police probers said there may be three persons involved in the rape-slay of Nucos.
Rape topped the list of crimes committed against minors in Negros Occidental last year, although child abuses cases and exploitation reduced slightly, compared to 2006.
Police WCPC records indicated that 120 of the 220 crimes against minors in 2007 were sexually-related offenses.*GPB
