Papal nuncio blesses
Bacolod gov’t center
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod City Government Center is the symbol of the dedication and care for the common good that the good people in the Bacolod City government render to the inhabitants of this city, Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams, Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, who blessed the facility, yesterday said.

It is a happy coincidence that the Bacolod Government Center has been formally blessed on the very eve of the consecration of Bacolod’s native son, Bishop-elect Gerardo Alminaza, Adams said.

He said they thank Alminaza for accepting the Holy Father’s appointment for him to be auxillary bishop for Jaro.moremoremore

Quake causes cracks
at new airport

BY CARLA GOMEZ

An earthquake that hit Negros Occidental Saturday morning caused hairline cracks on some of the concrete walls and dislodged acoustic boards on the ceiling of the new Bacolod Silay Airport in Silay City, its manager Antonio Alfonso said yesterday.

The areas below the ceiling where the acoustic boards had been dislodged have been cordoned off with yellow tape as a precautionary measure until repairs can be undertaken from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. when the terminal is not in operation, Alfonso said.

The damage was superficial and no cracks were caused to the runaway, and the airport remains in full operation, he said.moremoremore
