8 injured in mishap
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

At least eight persons were reported injured when a passenger jeepney collided with a delivery truck at the intersection of Araneta Street and Alijis Road, in Bacolod City, at about 3 p.m. yesterday.

The injured were brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and the Riverside Medical Center, reports said.

SPO1 Felix Diamante Jr., chief investigator of the Bacolod City Police Office Traffic Management Unit, said last night that they were still trying to contact PO3 Roy Abadilla, who was investigating the incident.

The green six-wheeled jeepney plying the Kabankalan-Bacolod route, fell on its side after it collided with the yellow and orange 10-wheeler truck.

Jimmy Pastrana, 47, assistant of the jeepney driver, said they were at the crossroad when the truck that came from Alijis rammed their vehicle.

Drivers of both the jeepney and the truck could not be reached yesterday.

Pastrana said they were carrying around 45 passengers when the collision happened.

Blood, cereals, and fish were scattered inside and around the jeepney that lay on a portion of a concrete road divider, while the windshield of the truck was shattered.

Vehicles passing the area had to cross the intersection alternately and five traffic enforcers directed the traffic.*PP
