A pinkish sixteen year!

NOUS

She has always told her mother that upon turning  sweet 16, she wants a party in her birthplace, Dumaguete City. And  being the “niña bonita” of her glamorous grandmamma, well known but low-keyed socialite Mari-Cris Teves, “her wish was Loling’s command.”

Justine Elise Teves Diaz Domingo, daughter of Dumagueteña Joanna Diaz and Manila businessman and famed disc-jockey Eric Domingo, was feted by grandmamma with a party that she will long remember.

The garden of the Teves residence in upscale San Antonio Village looked like a field of pink bubble gum, pastel tutti-frutti and everything sweet. Nerisse Cabrera outdid herself with the décor and menu. Tables mantled in all shades of pink from lightest to darkest stood out prominently with chairs covered in white with, again, giant pinkish bows.

Tabletops were like a basket of “Lifesavers” with napkins in “tutti-frutti” colors.

Justine’s guests were mostly relations and a few close friends. Enjoying the buffet filled with delectables like Baked Lasagna, A Sweet Macaroni Salad, Bistek Filipino with a medley of Fresh Vegetables, Mini Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Skewered Barbeque Meats were the Bustamante teeners, Ella, Al and Sabin, Joshua and Nathan Abregana, Michael Raymond, Monica Miciano, Patricia Hugo, Sasi (fresh from her win as Ms. Teen Philippines – Negros Oriental), Alex, Carmen, and Nikki Teves, Gabby del Prado, Marcelino Rotea, Kooky Diaz and a few more latecomers. After the singing of “felice cumpleaños”, Justine blew her 16 pink candles and sliced her two layered carrot cake with hot pink fondant, a delicacy by Charmaine Beltran of newly opened Idelfonsa Hotel. Parlor games with grand prizes and some dancing followed until Cinderella time. We didn’t want our “fave” Justine to turn into a pumpkin.

The Miss Teen Philippines - Negros Oriental was recently chosen in a pageant at the lobby of portal west that was purely “sugar and spice and everything nice!” Twelve pretty ingénues from prominent families vied for the top three spots which will give them the chance to represent us in the international pageant in Davao City come May. The deserving winners were Jessica de los Santos, Sasi Teves and Alleymae Amigo Teves representing the high schools of the city. “Good luck girls and as they say in Broadway, break a leg and bring home the bacon!” We’ll be rooting for you!..................NOUS!*
