Swiss national jailed
7 hours for ‘scandal’

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A Swiss national was detained for seven hours, for alarm and scandal, at the police lock-up cell of Murcia, Negros Occidental, Thursday, and was freed only yesterday.

SPO1 Ranilo Mercurio, Murcia PNP Investigator, yesterday said Michael Jacob Brawner, 27, and his live-in partner, Rose Ann Parreño, were arrested by security guards Thursday night at the Mambukal  Resort in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, for alarm and scandal.

Mercurio said the quarrel between Brawner and Parreño at the resort food court, resulted in minor damages to resort properties.

Initial police investigations showed that Brawner tried to stop Parreño from drinking Red Horse beer, and this led to a heated argument between them.

Parreño, who was already believed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor, reportedly hit Brawner with a bottle, and he retaliated by trying to strangle her. As a result of the commotion, properties of the food court incurred damages, and this led to their arrest.

Mercurio said Brawner and Parreño even quarreled at the Murcia Police Station.

The two were released yesterday from the custody of the Murcia police after paying P3,330 for damages to the mountain resort.*GPB
