Taxi driver found
stabbed 23 times
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The body of a taxi driver with 23 stab wounds was found in a canal Thursday at Hacienda Panaogao 3, Brgy. 4 poblacion, Silay City.

The victim was identified by the police as Ivan Saludar, of Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City, who is believed to have been robbed before he was killed.

The taxi of Saludar with bloodstains at the back seat, was found at Camonsil Street, CL Montelibano Drive in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, at about 7 a.m. Thursday.

Supt. Roderick Alba, Silay police chief, yesterday said there was no sign of struggle on the body of the victim, indicating that he was killed somewhere else.

The dumping of his body in Silay City and the abandonment of his taxi in Bacolod City, could be an attempt of the suspects to mislead police investigators, Alba said.

The investigations of the Silay police force and Police Station 4 of the Bacolod City Police Office in the killing hit a snag after the owner of the St. Jude Taxi ordered the vehicle cleaned, without coordinating with the police.

Alba said he believes at least two suspects are involved in the crime.

Police investigators of Silay are coordinating with the BCPO Station 4 headed by Chief Inspector Santiago Rapiz in solving the killing of Saludar.*GPB
