| The Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Foundation Inc. will launch the locally-produced and roasted “Negros Rainforest Coffee” at 1:30 a.m., on April 29, at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon, NISARD president, said the coffee is produced by three upland communities assisted by NISARD in organic production.
He said the launching aims to directly link the coffee farmers with the local coffee market.
“This would allow the farmers to present the production cycle of their local coffee from ‘Farm to Cup,’ ” Marañon said.
The event is part of the four-day 3rd Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival that will open on April 27, 3 p.m., at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
This year’s festival theme is “Organic Agriculture: A Key to Agro-Tourism Development.”*NLG
