| Two Army soldiers based in Siaton, Negros Oriental, are facing dismissal from the service for indiscriminate firing and drinking inside camp premises Saturday evening, in Barangay Napacao of that southern town.
Lt. Col. Cesar Yano, commanding officer of the 302nd Brigade said Tuesday that he will recommend the dismissal of S/Sgt. Percival Pabular, 42, married, of Rizal Street, Igbaras Iloilo City and Private First Class Arnold Sales, 32, married, of Tagbilaran, Bohol.
Pabular has served in the military for 22 years and Sales for six years.
Both soldiers belong to Yano’s brigade but are assigned in Siaton town, about an hour away from Dumaguete City.
Initial investigation reports said that Pabular fired his gun Saturday evening while he and Sales were on a drinking spree.
Pabular was detained at the Siaton municipal jail for public disturbance after the incident.
Both are now under the custody of the 302nd Brigade at their headquarters in Camp Leon Kilat, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Yano said that, in the military, there is no need to file administrative charges against erring personnel, as, under the Articles of War, commanders have disciplinary powers.
He said he is getting the side of the soldiers and later testimonies of witnesses. *JG
