WV has 1,114 BnBs
 

Western Visayas has 1,114 Botika ng Barangays selling low-priced generic over the counter drugs and eight prescription drugs, a government press release said.

The eight prescriptions drugs sold in the BnBs are amoxicillin 500 mg, cotrimoxazole, salbutamol, captopril, amoxicillin 250 mg/5ml, metoprolol, glibenclamide and metformin.

The BnBs serve as the distribution network of the Department of Health in coordination with the Philippine International Trading Corporation to ensure accessibility of these drugs, the press release said.

DOH records show Western Visayas has the second highest number of BnBs, next only to Central Luzon with 1,620.

La Union has 708; Cagayan Valley, 322;  Calabarzon, 907; Mimaropa, 607;  Bicol – 337;  Cebu City, 203;  Tacloban City, 632; Zamboanga City,  347;  Cagayan de Oro City,  772;  Davao City, 576; Cotabato City, 260; Cordillera, 368; CARAGA, 304;  National Capital Region 475; and ARRM,  45.

The Kabalikat ng Botika Binhi has also opened nationwide 986 BnBs and the National Pharmaceutical Foundation, 412, the press release added.*
