The camp of Central Negros Electric Cooperative candidate Andres Leonardia said they received a report about the distribution of fake CENECO identification cards in connection with the district elections tomorrow.

Leonardia is running for director of District IV or Bacolod East, covering  Brgys. Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan and Abkasa, against Edward Gasambelo.

“We have information from a reliable source that a group of unscrupulous persons are causing the printing out of fake CENECO IDs….” Leonardia’s counsel, Lorendo Dilag, said in a letter to CENECO OIC-general manager Edwin Montemayor yesterday.

Dilag said that to prevent any anomaly in the conduct of the election, he is inquiring  from Montemayor when was the last time that CENECO had issued IDs to its members in Mansilingan, Granada, Villamonte and Estefania, and the names of the persons issued with such IDs.

Roel Venus, head of the Cooperation Promotions Section, said yesterday the Institutional Services Division or ISD issues IDs to applicants for electrical connection when they begin processing their documents.

The distribution of IDs is ongoing, they have IDs while they are processing their applications, he said in a telephone interview.

Venus said they don’t have knowledge of the distribution of the alleged fake IDs. He said the IDs issued by the ISD are duly signed by its head.*NLG
