| The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution Wednesday requesting the mayor to convene the Bacolod City Labor-Management Council as provided under City Ordinance No. 354, Series of 2003.
This is an Ordinance Promoting Strong Collaborative Relationship Between Employers and Employees in Bacolod City, Creating the Bacolod City Labor-Management Council, Defining its Powers and Functions and Appropriating Funds for its Operation.
The resolution authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. calls for the establishment of strong collaborative relations between workers/employees and employers, and to ensure equal work opportunities regardless of sex, race or creed.
Gamboa is chairman of the Committees on Labor and Management and Traffic.
Meanwhile, Councilor Celia Flor, chairman of the Committee on Family and Childcare, said the city will undertake a comprehensive baseline survey of the poverty situation in Bacolod.
The survey will serve as a starting point of the Bacolod City Anti-Poverty Council as mandated by the mayor in response to the national law creating the National Anti-Poverty Commission, she said.
Flor said that for years, the city has spent millions for social and anti-poverty programs without the baseline data.
She also said Mayor Evelio Leonardia has appropriated P3 million for the conduct of the survey which is expected to start next month and may be completed in July.
The survey is being designed according to the Community-Based Monitoring System, Flor said.*CGS
