| Cops nab warehouse
worker for molestation
A warehouse worker yesterday denied sexually molesting the 17-year-old niece of his wife’s when he was nabbed by the police in Bacolod City, Tuesday.
Bonifacio Diocson, 38, said he did not molest the girl, who filed rape charges against him in 2006, when an arrest warrant was served to him by the Negros Occidental Police Office Intelligence Branch members led by PO3 Junji Liba at about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday.
The warrant, without a recommended bail for his temporary liberty, was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 43 Judge Philadelfa Pagapong-Agraviador for rape, police records showed.
Diocson, who was arrested at the rice warehouse where he works at Hilado Street, Bacolod, said the girl had been staying for about a month with his family at Purok Baybayon, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod. He said she complained to his wife that he had assaulted her after she allegedly dreamed of someone molesting her.
Diocson, who is now detained at Police Station 4, said he is now worried about his wife and five children who all depend on his meager income as a rice hauler.*PP

3 apprehended
for robbery
IN BACOLOD
Three suspected robbers were arrested in Bacolod City late Tuesday and Monday, the police said yesterday.
James Salvilla, 19, of Purok Tumpok, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, and a 14-year-old boy were nabbed by Police Station 2 and Regional Mobile Group members when they allegedly tried to steal the LG 7200 cellphone of Daisy Pabilo, 17, at the Capitol Lagoon Tuesday, police records showed.
The minor, who fired a shot from an improvised gun known as “sulpak”, was collared by RMG member PO1 Nelgin Bermejo after a brief chase at the lagoon at about 9:45 p.m. that night, police reports said.
Salvilla was arrested by Police Station 2 members led by Senior Inspector Luisito Acbuche and park security guards after he was cornered at a vacant lot at Gatuslao-North Capitol Road, 15 minutes later, police reports added.
Bermejo told Aksyon Radyo that he was standing near the corner of 6th-Lacson streets, when he saw the suspects scuffling with Pabilo.
He later chased the three boys when he heard a gunshot from their direction, Bermejo said.
Pabilo, a first year Nursing student in Bacolod, on the other hand, said she and her cousin were sitting on a bench at the park when the minor approached and declared a hold-up.
Recovered from the boy were the “sulpak” and empty shells and live slugs of rifles and revolvers of various calibers, while a nine-inch improvised knife was confiscated from Salvilla, police reports said.
The 14-year-old boy and Salvilla said they were out with their friend, whom they identified only as “John-John”, to look for female “textmates” when they staged the hold-up.
They claimed that “John-John”, who managed to flee, told them their search would be “better” if they have cellphones.
The two, who are third year high school students, also claimed that it was the first time that they went with “John-John” to steal when they were arrested.
Acebuche said they have filed charges for attempted robbery and illegal possession of a deadly weapon against Salvilla while the teenager has been transferred to the Social Development Center in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, after his parents showed his birth certificate that proved he was a minor.
Meanwhile, robbery charges were lodged against Baltazar Balnar, 33, at the City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday for his alleged involvement in two hold-up incidents at Brgy. Granada, Bacolod Saturday, Police Station 5 commander, Inspector Renato Ofamen, said.
Ofamen said Balnar was arrested in his home at Hacienda Luzuriaga, Brgy. Granada, at about 9 p.m. Monday, after 15 persons positively pinpointed him to be among the five men who waylaid and robbed them of their cellphhones, wallets, and footwear, Saturday night.
Balnar admitted in a television interview his involvement in the crime.
Ofamen also said they already have the names of Balnar’s companions.*PP
