A barangay chairman of the Bayan Muna party-list group who is also a member of the Kahugpungan sang Gagmay nga Mangunguma sa Oriental Negros, an  affiliated organization of Kilusang Magbubukid sa Pilipinas, gave himself up to the 11th Infantry Battalion in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, the military said yesterday.

Capt. Delfin Consolacion of the 11th IB, said Veteliano Jakosalem, alias Motor, who confessed to being the chairman of the Bayan-Muna party-list group and KAUGMAON, also admitted being leader of the “Lambat Paniktik (spy unit)”, a member of the Yunit Militia of the New People’s Army, as well as of the  Komiteng Tigpatuman of the Barangay Revolutionary Committee in Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan.

Consolacion said Jakosalem gave himself up to 2Lt. Von Ryan Gomez, leader of the Army’s Special Operations Team on April 19, after Diosdado Cobol,vice-chairman of Bayan-Muna partylist group, also surrendered to the same military unit, and turned over a 357 magnum revolver last week.

Lt. Col. Franco Nemesio Gacal, 11th IB commander, said the surrender of Jakosalem and Cobol only show how the CPP/NPA/NDF deceive the people and manipulate party-lists and farmers organizations as their legal front organizations.

Gacal added that the CPP/NDA/NDF is espousing a “Doble Kara (two-faced)”, or Legal-Illegal strategy in pursuing their aim to topple down the government. “ They are the masters of deceptions, luring students, out of school youth, private and government employees, local government officials, professionals and even some religious practitioners to join the armed struggle”, he claimed.*GPB
