Bago rice farmers
get seed subsidy

Rice farmers in Bago City received 1,000 bags of high-yielding palay certified seeds through the agriculture office under the “Palay Seed Subsidy Program,” a press release from the mayor’s office said.

Bago City Mayor Ramon Torres turned over the seeds to City Agriculturist Emiliano Baylon.

Under the program, the farmers will pay only P440 per bag and the city government will subsidize the remaining cost of P760 per bag to cover the total cost of P1,200 per bag of 40 kilos.

The program aims to help framers increase their palay production through the  planting of high-yielding certified seeds to augment their family income and to make affordable to farmers varieties of certified seeds, the press release added.*
