| An auditor of the Department of Agrarian Reform was stabbed dead and his naked body was found early yesterday in a grassy area about 100 meters from his home at Fortune Towne, in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, at about 5 a.m. yesterday.
Chief Inspector Santiago Rapiz, Police Station 4 commander, said they do not know yet the reason behind the fatal stabbing of Ronnie Sorallo, 46, an internal auditor at the DAR provincial at San Sebastian Street, in Bacolod City.
Sorallo sustained multiple stab wounds indicating that they could have been inflicted by more than one attacker, Rapiz said.
Sorallo’s Nokia cellphone and wallet with an undetermined amount of cash were missing, police records showed. But aside from robbery, Rapiz said they do not see other motives for the incident as no witnesses have surfaced as of yesterday.
Rapiz said Sorallo probably knew his killers because he was attacked near his house, and the number of his wounds shows that he may have tried to fight back.
Sorallo’s family said he had been helping them financially and that he has no enemies they know of.
His mother, Corazon, said in a television interview that he was a “good son.”
Meanwhile, DAR deputy provincial agrarian reform officer, Gideon Yungque, told Aksyon Radyo that Sorallo just did his duties in the office and did not meddle in the affairs of his colleagues.
Rapiz said Sorallo’s body was scheduled for an autopsy yesterday.
He also asked the public who may have information on the incident to cooperate with them.*PP
