Leonardia seeks
reconsideration

CENECO candidate Andres Leonardia, through his lawyer Lorendo Dilag, yesterday sought the reconsideration of the screening committee on its April 18 order denying his complaint for disqualification against his opponent, Edward Gasambelo.

In their motion, Dilag questioned the basis of the denial which was on the ground that GEEP Construction Supplies and CATCOR, where Gasambelo has interests, are not accredited and are not doing business with Central Negros Electric Cooperative based on the certification from the accreditation committee chaired by Robert Zaragoza.

Also, Dilag said the screening committee, on the other hand, did not and has never decided nor even touched the important issue of the violation of the financial interest by Gasambelo when he constructed the AIDSISA Line of CENECO as clearly stated in their complaint.

“This violation of the rule on financial interest was even supported by affidavits of two disinterested persons stating clearly that Gasambelo is the owner of CATCOR, the contractor of the AIDSISA Line…” he added.

Dilag said the certification of Zaragoza cannot overcome the positive and clear testimony of the two witnesses.

He asked the screening committee, for the purposes of transparency and credibility, to conduct an urgent hearing today at 3 p.m. at the CENECO office.*NLG
