CENECO candidate Andres Leonardia, through his lawyer Lorendo Dilag, yesterday sought the reconsideration of the screening committee on its April 18 order denying his complaint for disqualification against his opponent, Edward Gasambelo.
In their motion, Dilag questioned the basis of the denial which was on the ground that GEEP Construction Supplies and CATCOR, where Gasambelo has interests, are not accredited and are not doing business with Central Negros Electric Cooperative based on the certification from the accreditation committee chaired by Robert Zaragoza.
Also, Dilag said the screening committee, on the other hand, did not and has never decided nor even touched the important issue of the violation of the financial interest by Gasambelo when he constructed the AIDSISA Line of CENECO as clearly stated in their complaint.

raps vs. each other
Candidates in the Central Negros Electric Cooperative district elections on April 26 have filed protests against each other yesterday before the screening committee headed by Artemio Nonan.
District IV candidate Edward Gasambelo filed a disqualification protest late morning against Andres Leonardia, brother of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who also sought his disqualification earlier.
At around 2:30 p.m., Leonardia filed an answer/opposition to Gasambelo’s protest and asked the screening committee to deny his opponents protest.

250 recruits to leave for UAE
Two-hundred fifty workers in Bacolod City who are bound for United Arab Emirates were briefed by recruitment agency Lead Resources at the Business Inn Hotel yesterday, the mayor’s office said.
The accepted workers are waiting for their visas, pending the presentation of their passports and medical examination results.
They are part of the first batch of workers out of the 1,000 needed for UAE.
