| The police have filed rape charges against a pastor for allegedly molesting his three daughters in Ilog, and a parricide case against a farmer for the accidental shooting to death of his son in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Friday.
A 45-year-old pastor of a religious sect in Brgy. Canlamay, Ilog whose identity is being withheld, is facing rape charges before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Negros Occidental. He was accused by his three daughters of molesting them.
Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Ilog police chief, yesterday said the three victims are now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, for fear of their father.
Police investigations show that the eldest of the three daughters, now 22 years old, was molested by her father, on Nov. 3, 1993, when she was only eight years old.
Her two other sisters, 18 and 14 years old, were also molested on April 8 and 17, 2007, respectively.
Gutierrez said medical examinations on the three victims confirmed that they had been molested.
The pastor returned to his residence Thursday last week, after staying for almost two days at the Ilog Police Station.
Farmer Gary Santillan may, however, stay longer at the police lock-up cell of Cadiz City, after a criminal complaint of parricide was filed against him on April 18.
Santillan was endorsed to the police by barangay officials for the accidental shooting of his 4-year-old son, Jim Marlon, at their residence in Brgy. Magsaysay, Cadiz City, last week.
Santillan claimed it was an accident, but his wife, Marilou, expressed doubts about that, investigations of the Cadiz police showed.
The boy bore a gunshot wound in the head. He was buried three days after his death.*GPB
