HEAD TENNIS TILT
Unseeded Filoteo
bags 18-Under title

BY CEDELF TUPAS

Unseeded local player Vincent Filoteo pulled the rug from under Cebuano Cyril Camporedondo with a stunning 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (10-8) yesterday to capture the boys’ 18-Under title of the Bacolod leg of the Head Junior Tennis Tournament at the Noah’s Haven Tennis Court in Barangay Montevista, Bacolod City.

Filoteo climbed out of an 8-4 hole in the tiebreak, winning the next six points to post the improbable win over the No. 3 seed in more than two hours.

Filoteo’s victory compensated for the loss of fellow Bacolod hope Tao Yee Tan, who yielded to Macy Solon of Dumaguete in the girls’ 18-Under finals.

Carrying the colors for the champion squad were Felipe Boy Romero, Gene Guanzon, Hernand Garciniego, Francis Divinagracia, Jerry Rodrigo, Grace Garcia Ong, Grace Zollinger, Jose Butch Villagracia, and Bert Aragon.
