BIR Dumaguete awarded  2nd top revenue district

The Bureau of Internal Revenue District 79 in Dumaguete City was named as second, out of four revenue district offices in Revenue Region 12.

Officer-in-charge Arturo Acabal, who received the award in Bacolod City recently, said the citation was for the dedication of the office to the revenue service and for its exemplary accomplishment in last month’s collection.

The revenue office exceeded its collection target of P71,147,000 for March this year by P11,580,819.33, or 16.28 percent against last year’s collection of P59.7 million by P22.9 million or 38 percent, and collected P82.73 million.

The Bacolod district office topped the collection in March, Acabal said, adding that there is no extension for the filing of income tax returns which ended Tuesday.

Late filers will pay the 25 percent surcharge and 20 percent interest, depending on the basic tax due, he said.*JG
