NFA AGREES TO DOUBLE
RELEASE OF STOCK IN NEGROS

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Isidro Zayco and Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra yesterday created a joint Church-provincial government committee to explore ways to bring down costs and make rice available to Negrenses, while the National Food Authority committed to double its release of the staple into the Negros Occidental market.

Zayco yesterday also issued an executive order directing all mayors of Negros Occidental to monitor the supply and prices of rice and other basic commodities in order to identify problem areas and implement solutions.

The governor also directed the mayors to assess the prevailing economic conditions in their areas, investigate the reported adulteration of rice through the mixing of cheaper NFA rice with commercial supply, and to submit periodic reports and recommendations to his office.moremoremore

airport fees eyed
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

SILAY CITY – A proposed 300 percent increase on all the air service fees of the airport in Silay City to increase its revenues and avoid further deficit in its overall operational expenses, is being pushed by the management of the Bacolod-Silay Airport, its manager, Antonio Alfonso, said.

When the P5.6 billion airport facility was completed, the adjustment of fees to pay the loan had already been included, he said.

Alfonso also said the proposed increase will cover all the operations of the airport such as the terminal fee, landing and parking fees of all airplanes, boarding bridge fees, including the cost of the lots within the airport premises.

Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Ilog police chief, yesterday said the 45-year-old pastor of the religious sect called as “Bagong Simbahan Apostolico” and whose identity is being withheld, was turned over to them by Sgt. Hilario Peñaranda and Canlamay Brgy. Capt. Elizabeth Buncio, after the scandal broke out in the barangay Monday.

Gutierrez said the eldest of the three daughters, now 22 years old, was molested by her father, in November 3, 1993, when she was only eight years old..moremoremore
