Sugar Regulatory Administration chief Rafael Coscolluela said yesterday he will issue today an appeal to sugar producers to comply with the deadline for their “A “ or US quota sugar after the sugar agency had verified only 82,718.82 metric tons as of March 31.
This is only 75 percent of the 109,565 MTs estimated production of “A” sugar, Coscolluela said.
So far, only 12,215.60 MTs were expected to have arrived in the US East Coast by April 11, on board the M/V Pacific ID, he said.

regional wage boards
Malacañang said in a press statement last night that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will convene the regional wage boards to discuss salary adjustments for workers in the wake of rising prices of oil and rice.
“We are calling for a meeting of the regional wage boards all over the country to discuss how they can help the workers cope with the rising world prices of oil and rice," the President said.
Arroyo, who was joined by Trade Secretary Peter Favila and Labor Secretary Marianito Roque in visiting factories in Laguna yesterday, said the government encourages the giving of wage and non-wage benefits.

groups get equipment
Organic farmers’ groups from 10 towns and cities in Negros Occidental were provided with shredders and sprayers by the provincial government yesterday as part of its bid to make Negros Island the “Organic Bowl of Asia.”
Recipients were ‘Organik Na Negros’ Villages in the towns of Cauayan, E. B. Magalona and Hinoba-an, and the cities of Bago, Escalante, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Sagay, San Carlos, and Sipalay.
