79th IB to have new commander
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Lt. Col. Erwin Bernard Lim Neri will take over 79th Infantry Battalion stationed in Siaton, Negros Oriental, the command from Lt. Col. Nestor Porlucas in a ceremony expected to be presided over by Maj. Gen. Jovenal Narcise, 3rd Infantry Division commander.

Porlucas served as the 79th IB commander after its reactivation two years ago, at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz. It was deployed first in Panay, transferred to Bohol and later in Negros Oriental, almost two months ago.

The 79th IB, which has been tasked by Narcise to neutralize the Komiteng Rehiyonal-Sentral Bisayas in the southwestern portion of Negros island, is under the supervision of the 302nd Infantry Brigade.

The task to dismantle the three other guerilla fronts in Negros was given to the 11th, 15th   and 61st Infantry Battalions.

The new assignment of Porlucas is not known yet.*GPB
