| A small hydroelectric plant in Amlan, Oriental Negros, is up for sale and letters of interest will be accepted until April 29, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. announced.
The 0.8-megawatt plant, located in Brgy. Pasalan, has two 400-kilowatt turbine generators and operates as a base-load plant supplying power to Amlan and its neighboring areas.
PSALM said the bidding package will be issued to compliant interested parties from April 24 to April 30. Due diligence activities will be conducted from April 14 to 23 June.
The bidding will be held on June 25 after the pre-bid on May 7.
PSALM had earlier said it will also bid out the 192.5-MW Palinpinon Geothermal plant in Valencia, Oriental Negros in July.
Palinpinon has two power stations, the Palinpinon I and II, being commissioned by the PNOC-Energy Development Corp. It was previously offered as one package with the Panay Diesel Power Plant, consisting of the 36.5-megawatt Panay 1 and and 110-megawatt Panay 3 plants. Both are facilities of the National Power Corp.
Under the new schedule, Panay Diesel will be bidded out with 22-MW Bohol power plant in August, while Palinpinon will be sold independently.
The sale of these power plants is part of the government’s efforts to privatize at least 70 percent of its total generating assets.*NLG
