NBI recommends
raps vs. 2 recruiters

BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday said it has recommended to the City Prosecutor’s office the filing of cases against two women, aged 40 and 60, arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to transport five girls to Pampanga after promising them jobs.

NBI investigator Cyrus Aluzan said charges for illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons will be filed against the suspects, whose names he withheld because of the confidentiality clause under the Trafficking in Persons Law.

The women were arrested while they were on board a Negros Navigation ship bound for Luzon at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, the investigator said.

Four of the girls recruited were set to work as waitresses while one of them was promised a job as a house helper, Aluzan said.

The girls’ parents sought the help of the NBI because their children had not asked for permission from them, Aluzan said.

He said the two women did not have permits to enlist job seekers.

The girls have been turned over to their parents while the two suspects will be endorsed to Police Station 3 or the Bacolod City District Jail in Brgy. Taculing, Aluzan said.*PP
