2 workers collared
for qualified theft

Two employees of an amusement arcade in Murcia town, Negros Occidental have been detained by the police for allegedly stealing at least 19 video game machines worth P190,000 from their employer Monday.

The Murcia police said yesterday that Ruben Busine, 37, of Filipina Street, Talisay City, in the province, and Francis Mendoza, 27, of Purok Kawayan, Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, were arrested for allegedly pilfering video machines from MYZ Amusement Corp. in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, SPO3 Norberto de los Reyes said.

Busine and Mendoza were nabbed on a tip from an informant to the management that their own employees could be behind the loss of their equipment valued at P10,000 each, De los Reyes said.

Joemarie Antonio, 44, MYZ Amusement Corp. operations manager, told police probers that Busine and Mendoza may have been stealing from their outfit for some time but they noticed the losses only during an inventory Monday.

Ten video game machines have been recovered by the Murcia police and Police Station 1 members from three areas in Bacolod City Tuesday. The suspects had pointed to a certain Ruel Pitogo of Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, as the one to whom they sold the items, police records show.

De los Reyes said Busine and Mendoza were still leading police officers in recovering at least nine more machines in Bacolod.

Police records also show that Pitogo distributed the stolen machines to at least three locations, including those in Purok Bagong Dalan, Brgy. 16, Purok Sto. Niño, Brgy. 2, and Mabini-San Sebastian streets, all in Bacolod.

Case investigator SPO1 Jovito Tejado is processing the charges against the two to be filed after all the stolen computers have been recovered, De los Reyes said.*PP

IN SILAY
Cop positive for
drug use out on bail

A policeman who tested positive for drug use and charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is now out after posting bail of P30,000, police records show.

Police Officer 1 Brenold Jarina reported to his unit, the Sagay City Police Station, after he was freed from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Silay City last week, Supt. William Señoron said.

Señoron, Sagay police chief, however, said the assignment of Jarina in Sagay may be short-lived, as he will recommend for the policeman’s transfer to another police unit, saying “His continued presence will be detrimental to the image of Sagay PNP”.

He added that he will leave it to the PNP higher headquarters the extent of penalty to be imposed on Jarina, considering that his offense requires a higher penalty than that imposed on the chief of police level.

Jarina was arrested for illegal possession of drugs and paraphernalia at the Silay airport on March 19, after he failed to report to duty on March 18, and was disarmed by Señoron.*GPB
