Man injured in shooting

A man was shot for no apparent reason by two unidentified persons at dawn Saturday, at EJ Blanco Drive, Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City.

The victim, Joemar Amigo, 32, of Oracion Drive, Barangay Looc, Dumaguete was with his girlfriend Eunice Rituya, when he was shot in the back with a 9mm caliber pistol, investigation showed.

The shooting was reported to the police by Roy Nodado.

Responding probers said the victim and his companion were riding an Isuzu Sportive that developed engine trouble, and when Amigo alighted to push the vehicle, two persons riding a motorcycling suddenly appeared from behind and fired at him several times. Amigo and his girlfriend were able to run and seek help from people in the neighborhood and hid at the gate of the Residencia Maximo, investigation showed.

The suspects fled towards east of the city.

The police recovered from the scene seven spent fired shells. Amigo was rushed to the Silliman University Medical Center, the police added.*RG
