The Department of Education, Division of Siquijor, recently conducted a three-day divisional training in science for elementary and secondary teachers held at Solangon Elementary School, San Juan, Siquijor.

Participants were taught about the construction and use of improvised science equipment, and repair and maintenance of standard science equipment and content.

Training facilitator was Science research specialist Gerard Baron of DepEd in Central Visayas or Region VII, who underscored the need for science teachers to develop do-it-yourself, improvised and low-cost science equipment despite limited funding of schools for the purchase or acquisition of standard, brand-new science equipment.
