| Smart Communications Inc. has entered into a partnership with the Center for Community Transformation Credit Cooperative under SMART’s Social Business Enterprise Program, a press release from the telecommunications company said.
CCT is a microfinance institution catering to poor and low-income households in Metro Manila, Southern and Central Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Under the partnership, CCT programs for its borrowers are enhanced with two SMART SBE programs – SMART MFI Store Program and SMART Microfinance Program.
With the SMART MFI Store Program, CCT Tindahan Para sa Bayan Inc. owners can offer the SMART e-Load service to their community. CCT-Tindahan is a program which aims to directly link CCT Tindahan owners to high-quality but low-cost products and services such as SMART load.
Under the SMART Microfinance Program, CCT borrowers will be able to process loan application and make payments from their mobiles phones.
The SMART e-Load service will be piloted at the CCT-Tindahan stores located at the CCT Caloocan branch while the SMART Microfinance program will be initially implemented in a CCT branch in Davao, the press release said.
Jojo Malolos, SMART group head for new business stream, said the partnership serves as a venue for their company to offer sustainable business opportunities for CCT borrowers.
Meanwhile, Ruth Callanta, president of CCT Credit Cooperative parent group, CCT Inc., said the project can make a difference in the lives of their members as it is a sustainable program that addresses their need, the press release added.*
