Dinner with Elsie!

Well-liked hard-working socialite and civic leader, the enchanting Elsie Lee, celebrated her natal day with a dinner at her new home in southern Dumaguete. Dressed in a chic “poie de soir” printed top with Mandarin collar and a shantung silk black skirt accented with a cattleya corsage, the department store empress  and travel magnate entertained her select group in the well manicured garden straight out of the pages of “Home Style” magazine. The peeking moon caused the slight evening drizzle to stop and traveling palms, gumamelas of all colors and mini fountains and ponds glistened in the moon rays.

Elsie’s business associates and social circle were on hand to enjoy her company and natch to “beso-beso” and wish her the best for the year. Spotted were the well entrenched Ramas-Uypitching clan led by Tony and Karen and Drs. Nick and Cecilia, Narciso and Vicki Tiu, Terry Chu and famille, The Chuas, Lims and many more “taipans” of this gentle city.

The groaning buffet table was gladdened with dishes of all sorts, including Buttered King Prawns in Skewers, Beef in Sesame saucy seeds, Baked Lapu-lapu in Sweet Sour Sauce, Vegetable Supreme with Snowpeas, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Mushrooms and more, Cubed Fish in White Sauce with Shallots, Green Peppers, etc., Pancit for long life, and the traditional Lechon. The desert table was a tableau all its own with cakes, pastries and what-have-you. It’s no surprise that there are a lot of “healthy” folk here. Of course the bar was well stocked with soft drinks, teas and some libations. In spite of my wobbling around like a penguin due to a recent surgery, “moi” had a wonderful evening.
